Lake Powell 2007

We just got back from a week at Lake Powell. Aaron and I agree that is a great way to spend a vacation! We had a lot of trouble with the ski boat. It was out of commission a total of 3 days, that put a little damper on things. Aaron was still able to do some wakeboarding and we both got to go on the tube. Aaron did some cliff jumping and we both did a lot of swimming (sometimes it was to pull the ski boat). We played games and fished. We had a really fun and relaxing trip. The week went great but we were excited to get home and see Kaden. We hope we have the opportunity to go on that type of vacation again.

Fourth of July

We had a great Fourth of July. We had some friends over. I made indian frybread and we had the chocolate fountain flowing. It was tasty! We headed down the road a bit to watch the fireworks. Kaden was mesmerized for the first few minutes. After that he was back to running around all over the place. Aaron and I both love this holiday. We are grateful to be in this country and the freedoms we can enjoy because of it. We hope that Heavenly Father continues to bless us in this life we enjoy so much.

We had the Charles L Shumway Family Reunion this last weekend in Taylor, AZ. Taylor is not the most exciting place in the world, but my family has a lot of history there. I am so grateful for my ancestors and the examples they set for all their posterity. I hope that I am living up to their expectations as they watch me from above.

Fast Food

I just finished a report for my English 102 class on the negative aspects of fast food. I watched the documentary Super Size Me. I also was able to read excerpts out of a few books on the subject. It reminded me just how bad this food is for us. We all know that it is unhealthy and I am guilty of eating it too, but I would like to encourage everyone to eat it less. An occasional stop at McDonald's isn't bad (once every 3-4 weeks), but try to break away from the habit little by little. (I'll get off my soapbox now)

Weekend in Utah

We drove up to Utah a couple of weekends ago. Aaron's cousin Sean was getting married. Aaron was the best man. This is us in the church after the ceremony. The two hardest parts of the trip were getting Kaden to sleep well in the pack-in-play (Benadryl did the trick) and entertaining him on the drive home. It was a quick trip up there, but we had fun.

All boy

Kaden loves tractors. Every time we go to Home Depot he has to sit on every riding lawn mower they have. Our friends had this battery powered tractor tucked away in a corner of their backyard. Kaden found it of course and loved every minute of his ride!!

Pool Party

Kaden was able to swim for the first time this summer on Memorial Day. We were at a friend's house for a BBQ. He loved floating around and playing with dad.
